Surrey wanted to be able to support those students who, for financial reasons, couldn’t afford to take up a work placement or – in some cases – continue their studies.
We were asked to create an appeal that would persuade Surrey University alumni to support current students facing financial hardship.
The Story: Surrey wanted to be able to support those students who, for financial reasons, couldn’t afford to take up a work placement or – in some cases – continue their studies.
The Brief: We were asked to create an appeal that would persuade Surrey University alumni to support current students facing financial hardship.
Our Response: We offered alumni the chance to give students a Passport to the Future, ensuring that the brightest and best students were given every chance to both survive and thrive at Surrey.
Why it Works: We knew that many of the alumni we were talking to in this appeal had benefited from work placements themselves – in fact 83% of alumni felt that their work placement had made them more employable.
Our pack offered alumni the chance to help all students – irrespective of their circumstances – to enter into industrial placements that could transform their job prospects or receive the emergency financial assistance that they might need due to unforeseen circumstances.
Results: We tripled their previous highest appeal income and attracted nearly 75 new regular givers to the University, nearly all giving £10 per month.
