Unlocking the Power of Potential

The Story: The University of Warwick has a legacy of philanthropy stretching back to Helen Martin and The 29th May 1961 Charitable Trust - the University’s founding donors. 29th May has continued to be a focal point for philanthropy in the University year, helping to build a culture of philanthropy at the University of Warwick.

The Brief: The University trialled their first Giving Day in 2021, and in 2022, they approached us to support them with their Giving Day messaging and communications.

Warwick wanted to build on previous Giving Day messaging around the power of collaboration and community, and demonstrate how easy it is to get involved and just how valuable your contribution can be.

Our Response: We developed a bright and bold creative concept around ‘Unlocking the power of potential’ by supporting students, research and the arts at Warwick.

There were 4 key areas of university life which donors could choose to support:

  • Student support
  • Pioneering research
  • Arts
  • Areas of greatest need

We created a series of before-the-day and on-the-day communications which were highly targeted and tailored to specific audience segments but all united within the same overarching creative theme.

How it works: This annual online fundraising challenge was a great success, with 260 donors raising over £182,000.

Areas of greatest need and student support attracted the highest number of donations.
